All renters must carry full coverage insurance to be eligible for a rental. Almost all insurance providers will transfer your current coverage from your vehicle to our vehicle regardless of the model/year of your car. We will verify each renters insurance in order to guarantee a reservation. CLAERentals does not sell or provide any rental insurance packages. In the event of any other loss or damage to the car, regardless of fault, your financial responsibility extends to the full value of the car at the time of rental, less its salvage value, plus expenses for towing, storage impound fees, an administrative fee and a reasonable charge for loss of use. Your responsibility for theft of the car shall not exceed the reasonable costs incurred by CLAERentals for loss due to theft up to its fair market value, if it is established that you or any authorized operator failed to exercise reasonable care or aided or abetted in the theft.

An acceptable valid driver’s license issued in your state of residence must be presented at the time of rental. The driver’s license must be valid for at least 3 months minimum. If the driver’s license is in a language other than English an international driver’s permit is recommended and must be accompanied by a valid driver’s license issued from your home country, you will not be allowed to rent with only an international driver’s permit. The renters driving license country MUST match the point of sale of the product reserved, if not the correct point of sale product will be applied at time of rental which may occur additional charges.

All local customers wishing to rent, who reside within the state, are welcome to rent any vehicle of choice. There are no restrictions for local renters. Customers must have proof of full coverage insurance covering injury to third persons or their property and collision and comprehensive insurance covering any CLAERentals vehicle while on rent. If the CLAERentals agent is unable to verify proof when calling the insurance company, the rental transaction will be declined.

Additional authorized operators can be added at the time of rental or at any CLAERentals location. The primary renter and each Additional Authorized Operator must be present to sign the rental agreement and must meet normal rental qualifications, such as showing a valid driver license, and meeting all age requirements.

Additional Driver’s name will have to be on the insurance of the Primary renter. If not we will have to verify the additional driver’s insurance.

Additional Driver Fees: USD 50.00 per day for each Additional Authorized Operator.

CLAERentals accepts the following form of payments: most major credit/debit cards. Cash is an acceptable form of payment at time of rental; however, the security deposit must be paid on a credit/debit card. Acceptable charge cards include American Express / MasterCard /Discover / Visa. Credit or Debit cards must have the available credit for the estimated amount of rental charges plus the security deposit in order to secure the rental. Please note that at the time of rental, you will need to present;

1. A current driver license,

2. A valid credit or debit card in the renter’s name and

3. Proof of full coverage insurance.

• Note: A confirmation of your reservation does not mean that your debit/check card is acceptable to CLAERentals.

CLAERentals offers multiple vehicle delivery options. You are welcome to Pick up the vehicle from one of our local locations. Alternatively, we offer delivery and return services in North Carolina and South Carolina. Contact us for delivery rates to your desired location.

All rentals are billed in 24 hours/1 day windows. A 1 day rental from Saturday at 9:00AM will be required to be returned on Sunday at 9:00AM. We grant a 1 hour grace period for all rentals after which an hourly charge of $99-$299 is billed. Any rental that exceeds 3 hours after the scheduled return time will be billed an extra day unless a waiver is granted.

Refunds of your deposit or any other funds owed to you are posted by CLAERentals upon the close of your contract when you return the vehicle. However, depending on your financial institution, it can take up to 7 business days to process.

CLAERentals vehicles MUST NOT be driven outside of North Carolina without prior approval.

All vehicles in the CLAERentals fleet are considered non-smoking rental cars. Cleaning fees will be charged if a vehicle is returned in a condition where it needs to be cleaned and deodorized due to being smoked in. Smoking in any CLAERentals vehicle may also result in loss of rental deposit.

While we do not require a deposit to make a reservation, we may, however, retain a small deposit in certain instances based upon the nature of the reservation. In this instance, we require a reasonable notice informing us of such cancellations in order to obtain a full refund. If the client is a No-Show, No-Call, it is at the discretion of our company to either refund or retain the deposit depending on vehicle availability. Furthermore, cancellation fees may be waived (At our sole discretion) for special or unforeseen circumstances (hurricanes, tropical storms, etc.)
